Canaries Began Chirply

Kedah began their quest for a quick return to the top tier of the Malaysian League on the right note after winning their first match in the Premier League against UiTM 2-0 at the Hang Tuah Stadium in Malacca.

However it was The Royal Malaysian Police who registered the biggest win of the day by putting five goals past Betaria goalkeeper at the nearby Hang Jebat Stadium.

Two relegated teams Sabah and Sarawak also began their campaign with wins. The Sabahawks registered a 2-1 home victory over the Public Service Department (SPA) in Likas while the Crocodiles collected all three points from their journey to the north as they defeated Perlis 2-1 in Kangar.

Three times Malaysia Cup Champions, Kuala Lumpur meanwhile began brightly against POS Malaysia, racing into a two goal lead early in the match. However, The Postmen rallied and scored thrice to ensure their campaign began with a win.

Johor United meanwhile failed to capitalise their home advantage when last season FA Cup finalist, Sime Darby held them to a goalless draw at the Hassan Yunos Stadium in Johor Bahru.
